Hi! I absolutely love animals and animal shelters. If you do too, then check out my Youtube account! My username is Cracklecaracal.

Here is some brief information I think an animal lover should know (and most likely already does know):

1. Pet stores/puppy mills are bad, Shelters are excellent, and breeders are okay (depends on the breeder. Some are secretly underground puppy mills. I personally disagree with breeding animals, because there are already so many unwanted animals due to be euthanized and breeders only add to the problem). Also, I don't care how good a pet store might look, if it sells animals you should try to avoid them. Many get their animals from puppymills and other awful places, even if they tell you they get their animals from qualified breeders. Also, a lot of them don't take all the precautions needed to ensure every animal is healthy and sound.

2. Circuses with exotics are awful, like the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey circuses, who not only use exotics but also brutally beat their animals to make them perform. They lie to the public, saying they love their animals and don't take their elephants from the wild. Both statements are LIES. I can't stand them. Please don't go to any of their circuses, because if you do that's like saying you support animal cruelty!

3. Exotics (big cats, bears, etc.) as pets aren't good. These animals are meant to be wild and free, not kept in a cage by a human all its life. Many animals don't recieve proper care, nutrition or enrichment.

4. Leaving a dog in the car while shopping or leaving a dog in the back of a pickup truck is dangerous! Countless dogs die this way! On TV I have seen countless stories about dogs jumping from the back of a pickup, never to be found again. Sometimes they die from jumping out, other times they run away out of shock and fear.

5. Rolling the windows down with a dog in the car is dangerous, unless your dog is wearing a special dog safetly harness. I went to an animal shelter once to play with the animals, and they had a purebred black lab named Greta. She was disowned because once she was in a car, with the windows rolled down. She got spooked and jumped out. She had her leash on and was tied to the chair by it, so she was literally dangling outside the car by her neck on a leash, and banged against the moving tires and car. She almost died. The medical bill was to high for her owner, so she abandoned her.

6. Don't chain a dog outide (or inside for that matter). Crate training is better. Dogs chained outside are left alone, cold and are frightened. Many become aggresive, and mad. I honestly couldn't blame the poor dogs! It's not fair to the dog to leave it chained outside, excluded from its family...

7. Don't leave your animal outside alone or at night. How would you feel if your best friend kicked you out of the house at night???

8. Try to use products that say they aren't tested on animals, like AlbertoV05, and White Rain products.

9. Choke collars are for training purposes only. They are not meant to be worn all the time. Thousands of dogs strangle themselves by pulling too hard on the leash while wearing a choke collar. Hundreds of dogs die from this every year in the U.S. alone.

10. Down with fur clothing! Animals kept for their fur live in awful conditions, just so that someone can wear fur that is rightfully theirs. Fur farms are awful places... DON'T SUPPORT THEM!

11. Don't go to roadside zoos, they don't treat their animals with care and stay open by allowing the public to hold their baby big cats. Not only does this send a bad image to the public, but many of those babies are disposed of once they reach 40 pounds.

I hope you found this information helpful!
