2/8/2005 - Ynetnews
Press: Ynetnews recently covered an issue concerning many file sharing sites and their use within Israel. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3121644,00.html.
Response: Unfortunately we have had to block Israel and a couple of other regions from uploading content as their abuse (copyright, pornography, death) rate were each above 87%. Those extreme levels of abuse place a large strain on the free hosting service that we are trying to provide for all. At this time we have decided to temporarily block these high abuse regions so that we can provide a stable service for genuine TOS abiding users.
We would like to urge genuine users from these regions to check back with us next week (August 8th) when we plan to offer free registered accounts to all. These registered accounts will allow us to block and remove an abusive user’s content quickly.
12/5/2005 - Contra Costa Times
Press: The Contra Costa Times published "School bathroom attack broadcast on Web site" as their top story today. The article (free subscription) can be viewed at: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/11627003.htm. The story was also aired by several Cox media stations.
Response: Fortunately we did have a chance to speak with them before the article was published. We stated that we were not aware of any complaint regarding such a video, but do not allow illegal or obscene content. The media in question has been removed. We also stated that we greatly value user input, suggestions, and complaints and that we provide a comments form explicitly for that purpose.
4/5/2005 - MSNBC Clicked Recommends Putfile
Press: Will, the editor of MSNBC's Clicked, said "By the way, I've really been liking this Putfile service. As I understand it, they host videos for free. Of course, you have to link to them directly, but I like it because small users can submit their videos and not worry about getting clobbered with a bandwidth bill if their video catches viral fire. Plus, they rank popular video and flash files, so I can stay true to this blog's purpose." The article can be viewed at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7727229/#050504.
Response: Will's statement is correct, our hosting is absolutely free as well as being very easy to use. Why not check out our upload video tutorial.
